Just finished watching the fantastic documentary, Before the Music Dies. In one segment, the film discusses how difficult it is for talented musicians to be relevant and still retain their artistic integrity. It goes on to do a short expose on talented singer/songwriter/guitarist, Doyle Bramhall II. I'd never heard of him before today, so I just listened to some of his music: his talent is undeniable. I don't even think Doyle is the best vocalist ever, but it's his delivery and body language when he performs his songs; you feel that those songs are from the heart, that they're raw. A real artist to say the least. Doing what he loves because he loves it. That's what it's about. It's refreshing to see that artists who care about the craft are still around, and are connecting with crowds everywhere.
